Lucid has announced two versions of their range-topping Air Dream Edition sedan.

When the Lucid Air was revealed back in September 2020, four trim levels were announced: the Air Pure base model, the mid-range Air Touring and Grand Touring, and the flagship Air Dream Edition. Originally, the Air Dream Edition was to have 1080 horsepower and over 500 miles of range. However, Lucid is now offering a performance-focused version and a range-focused version rather than a single model.

The Lucid Air Dream Edition Performance will pack a dual electric motor setup making a staggering 1,111 horsepower. Lucid says the Performance edition will do 0-60mph 2.5 seconds, but some suspect the number will be much closer to 2 seconds in reality. Meanwhile, the Range edition will have 933 horsepower that will go from 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds according to Lucid.

Both specifications of the vehicle will have very impressive range. In a recent test where the two versions of the Air Dream Edition were driven in a 445 mile trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco, both vehicles managed to complete the trip on a single charge. The Performance edition had 30 miles of range remaining while the Range edition had 72 miles. From this, we can expect the Performance edition to have nearly 500 miles and the Range edition to have well over 500.

Pricing for both the Performance and Range versions will start at $169,000.

Customer deliveries for the Lucid Air are set to start in the second half of 2021. What are your thoughts on the Lucid Air Dream Edition, and the Lucid Air in general? Be sure to let us know down in the replies section below.
