NIO’s full-sized EUV has been approved for sales in Europe.
NIO, one of the most renowned Chinese EV manufacturers, is looking to expand west. The brand aims to enter Europe via Norway, just like competitor XPeng is currently doing.
The firm will commence European sales in September. Their first EV sold in Europe will be the ES8, a luxury EUV with a range of up to 310 miles per charge (WLTP). NIO are now able to sell the ES8 anywhere within the EU, as well as in a number of ‘EU-related’ counties like Norway.
Norwegian pricing for the ES8 is currently unknown, but it starts at the equivalent of around $70,000 in China. Multiple battery packs are available, with the largest being 100kWh in size. The latter produces a hefty 641bhp and has a dual-motor AWD configuration.
Following on from the ES8, the ET7 sedan will arrive in Europe in 2022. Available with a 150kWh solid-state battery, the ET7 is capable of an unrivaled 621 miles per charge according to the Chinese firm. It feature next-gen LIDAR tech for autonomous driving too. Watch this space.
