Does the Ioniq 5 live up to the hype?

One of the most talked about EVs going on sale this year, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 really appears to have it all. Great looks, solid performance figures and fantastic range. But how does it perform in real-world conditions? Well YouTube channel Asian Petrolhead are among the rare few who have had the chance to check one out already.

As you can see from the above, their review was mostly focused on one area: range. And it must be said the Ioniq 5 performed very admirably. Despite a pre-test estimate of around 260 miles by Asian Petrolhead, the Ioniq 5 actually managed over 280 miles in their test. And that’s including the fact that they stopped with 6% charge remaining. Not bad at all Hyundai!

For those of you unaware, the Ioniq 5 is Hyundai’s first EV based off the e-GMP platform and, despite its hatchback looks, is actually of similar size to the Tesla Model Y. It will launch stateside in fall of this year, with US pricing currently unknown. Be sure to check out the above video and let us know your thoughts in the replies section below.
