Polestar 2 US Pricing Has Officially Been Revealed

By B. O’Hare
Volvo’s premium electric subsidiary with an emphasis on performance, Polestar, have revealed US pricing for their upcoming 2 sport-back. The 2, which will look to seriously challenge Model 3 sales, is set to start at $59,900 – before any grants or incentives. The $7,500 FTC and further state incentives can bring that price down to around $50k – right in LR Model 3 territory. This starting price is just over $3,000 less than what was originally anticipated, around $63,000.
Polestar have also revealed the prices of the various options buyers will be able to configure their cars with. Pricing for the list is as follows:
- Performance Pack: $5,000
- Nappa Leather Interior: $4,000
- 20-Inch Alloy Wheels: $1,200
- Metallic Paint Colors: $1,200
Powered by a 78kWh battery, the 2 produces 408bhp and is capable of 0-60 mph in well under 5 seconds. It also manages 292 miles per charge on the WLTP cycle and features a next-gen, Android-powered interior.
With production in China well underway despite COVID-19, the first North American customer deliveries are still expected for this summer. A base $45k model is also coming, but it won’t be until at least early 2021 before that arrives.
