Polestar 2 production begins in China despite COVID-19 concerns

Polestar 2 production has commenced in China despite the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially manufacturing is taking place in Luqiao alongside parent brand Geely’s vehicles and Volvos, however 2 manufacturing will eventually move out to a Polestar-exclusive factory in Chengdu, China where the Polestar 1 PHEV is currently being built.
Due to heavy automation and social distancing protocols COVID-19 is not expected to cause delays, meaning the first 2s could arrive in the US and Europe this July. Initially only the $63,000 Launch Edition will be available, however a few months later a base, $45,000 Polestar 2 will arrive.
Powered by a 78kWh battery, the Polestar 2 is capable of 275 miles per charge and 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds. In an ever-increasing market segment, the 2 will have its eyes set solely on the current class leader, the Tesla Model 3. What are your thoughts on Polestar, and particularly the 2? Do you think it’s a worthy Tesla Model 3 rival? Let us know your thoughts in the replies section below.
