A German man has racked up 1,000,000 km, or 621,000 miles on his Model S: making his car the highest mileage Tesla on earth (because Elon Musk’s 08′ Roadster isn’t , plus technically that’s not propelling itself independently – but I digress). Hansjörg Gemmingen, the man behind the wheel of the record 2013 P85, considers driving a hobby and on average drives over 370 miles a day. He’s also put over 350,000 miles on a Roadster – that’s a lot of charging stops…

In terms of reliability, Hansjörg’s Model S has performed admirably, requiring just 2 warranty-covered battery changes (the most recent of which has lasted over 300,000 miles and counting) and 3 drive unit replacements.

Meanwhile, Tesla are working on a battery that could last 1 million miles (1.6 million km) that may be out as soon as next year…
